As the Executive Director of Economic Development, creating a healthy community with enrichment and opportunities for a sense of "belonging" is key to recruiting new residents and new business to our community, and an integral part of developing progressive communities of the future.  

Winston Churchill once said, “The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty.” As an optimist, I have faced and overcome many adversities, a principle I carry through both my personal and professional life. In my free time, I converse with colleagues, travel with my family, and work on my weaknesses, always taking stock of my blessings and enjoying the rewards of my sacrifices.

It is important to me to be a part of the Because We Care initiative.  The mental health and well-being of our students, their families, our faculty and staff are essential for creating a supportive and effective learning environment that promotes academic success, personal growth, and a strong sense of community. Healthy families contribute significantly to success both in and out of the classroom.

Josie Anne Wacker, MS, LCPC, LMAC is a professional counselor who practices at Central Kansas Mental Health Center and at the Ellsworth County Medical Center office twice a week.   Josie has 5+ years of experience in professional counseling.  "I pride myself on being open-minded, non-judgmental, welcoming, and kind. I tend to live my personal life as I do my professional life, using unconditional positive regard and empathy. I enjoy spending time with my family, my pets, and reading."

As a Realtor® and Property Manager, housing is my passion.  Assisting residents and potential residents in finding what they need for themselves and their families, is what I do.  The Because We Care coalition has been a good way to connect with other leaders in the community and get input on our housing needs.
